What is CUA, how it works in term of SAP security and administration.

Updated Aug 16, 2018

Hello Gurus,

Would you send me complete info of implementation of CUA, What is CUA, how it works in term of SAP security and administration? How will it work with BW and SCM, CRM?

SOLUTION

CUA is basically for managing the users centrally from one location.

The identification of a CUA system is in SU01 screen if u observe u will get a new tab called " SYSTEMS " in which all the child systems list will be mentioned.

There will be no systems tab if CUA is not installed. According to SAP recommendation, SOLMAN system should be used as a CUA parent system, since SOLMAN will have all the data about the systems in the landscape. So there is no need to set up RFC connections in the landscape.

But in some organizations this can be set up in ECC systems, then we need to configure things from scratch. That I will cover in setting up CUA in a landscape.

What is CUA in SAP?

SAP CUA provides central user administration for ABAP applications. SAP NetWeaver Identity Management is a better solution because it can manage all kinds of applications, both ABAP and Java.

Advantages of CUA

If the company's landscape has multiple systems and a request came to setup 1000 users in all the systems. An easy solution is CUA in one shot we can set up multiple users in one shot in different systems.

For a single user, you want to reset a password in 10 different systems, no need to go to each every system and reset CUA one shot. Again it depends on the settings.

Settings in CUA

We do the settings of CUA in SCUM t-code. We can see different options there.

For Eg: U can lock the user locally and globally same case with Password, role assignment, license etc.

After doing anything through we need to process the SCUL entries. These are Idocs to be moved to the target system. In any mass user creation phase sometimes it requires to move them manually. Otherwise just need to check them.
