2. Contents of the SP04 Upgrade Package:
The Upgrade Package contains five separate CAR files which have to be
downloaded one after the other. Please download there five CAR files
into the same folder. The contents of each CAR file has to be unpacked
using the tool SAPcar (sapcar.exe).
The packages have the following names:
1) MOBILE30SP4A_0-10001095.CAR
(contains folders ARS Update + ARS Language Update)
2) MOBILE30SP4B_0-10001095.CAR
(contains folder MDAC)
3) MOBILE30SP4C_0-10001095.CAR
(contains folders ClientFrameworkUpgrade + Note431617 + Note439581)
4) MOBILE30SP4D_0-10001095.CAR
(contains folder DevEnvUpgrade)
5) MOBILE30SP4E_0-10001095.CAR
(contains folder Docu)
After the extraction the folder MDAC (which is got by extracting the
CAR file "MOBILE30SP4B_0-10001095.CAR") please move it into the folder
"DevEnvUpgrade" (which is got by extracting the CAR file
"MOBILE30SP4D_0-10001095.CAR"). Otherwise the DevEnvUpgrade would fail.
In the downloaded package the documentation is contained in the folder
...\Docu.
ReadMeFirst.txt gives an overview about the contained documents. You should read the Mobile_Upgrade_Guide.doc first. This document describes the upgrade of the Application Repository the SAP Mobile Application Studio and the Client Applications.
3. Application Repository Upgrade:
Supported Start Releases:
This upgrade enables you to update an CRM Mobile Application Repository
from:
Release 2.0B SP03 - 2.0B SP12 or
Release 2.0C SP01 - 2.0C SP07 or
Release 3.0 SP01 - 3.0 SP02
to: Release 3.0 SP4
Non-default languages (i.e languages other than English and German)
that have been installed into an application
repository of release 2.0B or 2.0C are updated as well
to release 3.0 SP4.
Regarding the installation of non-default languages into a
CRM 3.0 Mobile application repository please refer to note 435368.
If you are running the update tool on a multiprocessor machine please
refer to note 421978 as well.
Regarding general concepts about upgrading an ARS landscape
please refer to CSN note 0366067 Mobile CRM Repository:
Upgrading an ARS Landscape.
Details:
*** Please read workaround described at the end of this section ***
It is absolutely necessary to install the CRM Mobile application
repository update tool on the machine where the application repository
databases are located.
For the database that is used a backup should be created before the
update is started.
ARS Update package 3.0 SP4 is contained in: MOBILE30SP4A_0-10001095.CAR
After downloading and extracting this .car file you should get the
subdirectories ARS Update and ARS Language Update.
Please read file Mobile_Upgrade_Guide.doc and ARSUpdateManual30SP4.htm
both located in directory Doc before you install and run the update.
To start the installation of the application repository update package
double click on executable: Setup.exe
in the directory: ARSUpdate\Setup.
The installation will place a shortcut named
"CRM 3.0 SP04 Repository Update" on the desktop.
Double click on this shortcut to start the update tool.
After you have started the update tool please read the given manual.
Tests on a machine with a 500 MHz CPU and 500 MB main memory have shown
that an update from release 2.0B or 2.0C to release 3.0 SP4 takes
about 8 hours.
This is due to the large number of objects that are affected by the
update.
********** Workaround **********
In note 439736 a problem regarding application repository update 3.0 SP4
is mentioned that occured on Windows 2000. In the sequel a workaround
for this problem is presented.
If you run the the application repository update package 3.0 SP4 on
Windows 2000 and you intend to update an application reposiotry from
release 2.0B or 2.0C to release 3.0 SP4 then apply the update to
release 3.0 SP4 as follows:
1) After the installation of the application repository update
package 3.0 SP4 don't start the update tool of 3.0 SP4 although
this is mentioned in readme.txt and the corresponding manual.
Instead first start the update tool of 3.0 SP1 that comes along
update package 3.0 SP4.
You will find the update tool of 3.0 SP1 under the path:
\tools\ARSUpdate\3.0A.IN.00\bin
Usually is C:\Program Files\SAP\Mobile
Go to \tools\ARSUpdate\3.0A.IN.00\bin in Explorer
and start ARSUpdateTool.exe via double click.
When you start this application repository update please
use a database administrator account (e.g. sa) for login.
2) After the update to 3.0 SP1 completed successfully you can
start the update to 3.0 SP4 via double click on the corresponding
desktop icon.
The described workaround is not necessary if you run the update on
Windows NT or if the repository to update is already of release 3.0 SPX
(X >= 1).
Hot Fixes:

4. SAP Mobile Application Studio Upgrade:
Supported Start Releases:
An upgrade is possible from the following start versions:
CRM 2.0B SP06 - SP11 (SAP Business Application Studio)
CRM 2.0C SP01 - SP05 (SAP Business Application Studio)
CRM 3.0 SP01 - SP02 (SAP Mobile Application Studio)
Details:
The details about upgrading SAP Mobile Application Studio to 3.0 SP04 are described in the Mobile Upgrade Guide. Please read the appropriate section and proceed as described there.
Note: Since SAP CRM Mobile Client Component 3.0, the development environment for CRM Mobile Client Component / Applications is renamed from SAP Business Application Studio to SAP Mobile Application Studio.
Hot Fixes:
0444397 Upg. CRM Mob. to 3.0SP04: Client Upg. Console Error
0449120 Error while upgrading 2.0C SP7 to CRM 3.0 SP04/05
0439140 Handling of errors and warnings during UI Generation
5. Mobile Client Upgrade:
Supported Start Releases:
A ClientFrameWork Upgrade is possible from the following start versions:
CRM 2.0B SP06 - SP11
CRM 2.0C SP01 - SP07
CRM 3.0 SP01 - SP02
Important : These start releases apply ONLY to the "Setup.exe"
(installation program) which upgrades the 'Framework' part of
the Mobile client. Running this "Setup.exe" on a 2.0B or 2.0C
machine makes sense only if this machine has only the binaries
(and NO client databases ) - for example, a Workgroup Client
machine, which contains only the binaries of the application.
A FULL Mobile Client Upgrade to 3.0 SP04 is possible from the
following start versions:
CRM 3.0 SP01 - SP02
Details:
After extracting the CAR file shipped for 3.0 SP04 (refer to note 421281
for the name and location of the CAR file ), you will obtain the folder
"note439581" which will contain the following files :
- Readme_note439581.htm
- 30SP4Upgrade.rbn ( Also see 'Hotfixes' section below )
- 30SP4UpgradeCustom.rbn ( Also see 'Hotfixes' section below )
The document "Readme_note439581.htm" provides the details of the
upgrade of the mobile clients to the 3.0 SP04 state.
The note 439581 contains exactly the same information as this section
in this note. So that note need not be referred to.
****** IMPORTANT CORRECTION ******
If you are upgrading to 3.0 SP04 from 3.0 SP01, then the 2 RBN files
mentioned above will have to be changed as described below :
- Load the RBN file in the UpgradeConsole.exe
- Click on the command "UninstallSPE" in the Commmands grid
- On the right hand side, in the text box "Command String",
the last part of the string has a value "IPCINSTALL.LOG".
You must replace this with the value "INSTALL.LOG".
After this, the final part of the command string should like
this : C:\PROGRA~1\SAP\INSTALL.LOG
- Click on the "Save" button to save your changes.
Note : This change is NOT needed if you are upgrading from 3.0 SP02
to SP04
****** ADDITIONAL REMARKS ******
1) If the Mobile Client application to be upgraded is
on the same machine where you created the upgrade
packages ( using the Upgrade console ), then please
perform the following step before you start the upgrade
using the Deployer :
- Go to the Windows Registry ( run the program
"Regedit.exe" ), and delete all the keys under the key
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\MSA\UPGRADES"
This step is needed because the UpgradeConsole.exe creates
these registry keys during the creation of the upgrade packages,
and they will interfere with the ClientUpgradeTarget.exe which
uses the same part of the registry during the upgrade process.
For more details, see note 373331.
2) At the end of the client upgrade, you may get a message box with the
message "cannot acknowledge upgrade success to server..."
This message appears since the upgrade was not sent via Middleware
(it was applied using the Deployer), and hence the attempt to
acknowledge to the server does not succeed.
This error message can be IGNORED, since the Upgrade has succeeded.
3) If you are upgrading the Mobile Client part of a Development
workstation, then after the upgrade you will need to restart the
short term lock server service.
To do this, you must open the "Services" applet in the Control Panel
( "Control Panel -> Administrative Services " in Windows 2000 )
and start the service named "SAP STLS Service"
