Difference between Roles and Profiles in SAP

Hello,

Can any one exactly explain me the difference between roles and profiles in the SAP security side.

Role is template which contains a combination of T-codes, Reports.... which inturn creates a profile. 100 authorizations make a profile

Hi, Note that Roles generates Profiles for you.which you can see when you create a role may be Single or composite role. however we can create our own profiles but SAP does not recommend the same. Regards Kumar

Hi,

Yes Roles is something like a wrapper around Profiles.. you are supposed to maintain the authorisations using roles..
