ODBC driver cannot be loaded on Windows 2003

In transaction CSADMIN, a database repository cannot be updated from the "defined" status to the "running" status. Instead, the request terminates with a timeout after a certain amount of time.

The following message is logged for an activated server trace:

X-ErrorDescription: "CreateTab ContentStorage, connect error SQLConnect failed, Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 5 (liveCache)., Error Code: 160"

Due to authorization problems, the Windows Driver Manager cannot load dependent ODBC DLLs.

You must add the "NETWORK SERVICE" user to the access authorizations for all ODBC driver DLLs.

Open a command box, switch to the installation directory of the SAPDB/MaxDB ODBC driver and execute the following command:

cacls <INSTDIR>sql*.dll /T /E /G "NETWORK SERVICE":F

Provided that you have not executed an ODBC driver update into another directory (notes 698915, 301352), the ODBC driver is in the c:sapdbprogramspgm installation directory.

Based on our observations, you do not need to restart the SAP Content Server.
