Please test in Dev environment as follows.
Shutdown the oracle database and listener.
su - ora
setenv JAVA_HOME
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH
setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
ora> ./run installer
when it ask for ORACLE_HOME, provide the existing path
after install successfull bring up the database

Hi!
If ur installing the SAP 4.7. Then the oracle patching must be given in the following way.
stp1.Install java and set the path by going to mycomputer system properties.click the advance tab set click the environment variable in first text box in cap letters type (JAVA_HOME).And sec text box c:\programm files\.....path of java.
step2. install oracil.
step3. stop the services by going to administrative tools services.there you need to stop 3 services of oracle.
step 4. in the sap installation 3 disk get into the installation of oracle folder there will b a folder called PATCHES>NT>I36>1.8.0 SRV.
step5. click on srv you will find a button called browse.click the dumped oracle folder and click on ora81 and unzip.
The oracle patches have done..
