Switching from .net to SAP with 7 years of experience

Updated Dec 08, 2020

 HI,

I have 7 years of experience in developing application with .net and i am bored of this technology right now as it changes its versions every now and then.

I am planning to do a technology switch now to SAP from .net

here are few quesitons running in my mind before starting the switch.

Now after 7 years of exp, Is it good to learn and switch to SAP ?

Will the salaries be more on SAP jobs when compared to .net jobs ?

if i go with SAP now, can i keep total 7 yrs of exp into SAP and get the projects to put in my resume ?

What will be the scope of my career , if i switch now ?

Which module shud i go with ?

Will i get interview calls in bangalore ?

Advice needed from experts.

Thanks

Rahul

Hi Rahul, I am Siva an ABAP consultant for the past 6 years. I don't see any show stopper in your profile to move into SAP. But you should not keep all seven years on SAP in your profile.

Ans yes, salaries are comparatively high in the market for SAP consultants.

ABAP is suitable module for you as you are from technical background.

If you any questions still, you can mail me at siva.abap@yahoo.com

    Good luck.

    Hi Experts,

I have a similar problem as Rahul. Even I have 7+ years of .Net exp and working as a Team Lead in reputed IT firm in Hyderabad. First of all I am fed up of chasing the fast changing Microsoft .Net versions, before anyone could get familiarize with one version the next version comes up. Visual Studio 2010 was in market, in the late 2010 almost on 2011, and a year later Visual Studio 2012 Beta is already out.

So my question is, if at this point of my career I switch my skills to SAP, will my previous experiences count? Or is it like I have to start all over again, meaning will I be treated as fresher as I don’t have SAP exp. Can anyone help me on this…?

    Thanks

Hi. It is better to know what market wants from SAP Consultant?

If anyone want to switch from .net/java to ABAP/SAP Consultant then you need to consider 1 thing mainly. i.e market always prefer experienced SAP consultant rather than freshers.
