What if someone already has IT experience and wants to switch to SAP. What about lateral movement into SAP.
Lets say someone who has around 4-5 years of experience in dotnet and wants to switch over to SAP (non-programming)which module does he pick.

if u do SAP from any Local institute the Coursce duration is around 2-3 Months
and If u want to do SAP from SEMENS then it will take around 6 month
the cost of SAP from Local Institute is around 40,000 - 60,000 its depend institute to institute.
But if go for SEMENCE it will cost u around 1.5 to 2 Lakh

Hi as u have done MCA then I will suggest u to go for SAP ABAP, because if you go for interview in SAP HR module then the first Question will be why u have taken HR because u have done MCS then u must have to go for SAP ABAP or BASIS and one more thing
Your Boss is saying that there is Good Scope for HR but it is not True there is also GOOD scope for ABAP..

as u have never take IT as your profession for more then 7 years, and now if u try to come back in IT it is very difficult because in IT filed if u don’t working on other filed will wont be counted as your working experience and you will treated as Fresher so I will suggest u to take some functional module such as MM, PP, SD, FICO, but as u have some experience in Financial sector then I will suggest u should go for SAP FICO, it will be Batter for u

your Diploma wont help you in SAP but your 12 years exp will Play a BIG role in getting you a JOB in sap ...
according to your Exp i will say that u should so for SAP you have two choices...
1. go for SAP PS(Project System)
2. SAP Material Management(MM)
for SAP PS the JOB in this module is very less and very few people so this module so it is very difficult to find good peoples in this module but the they are get good SAL.
for SAP MM(Material Management) this also fit to u easy to get job... in this module SAL is Good...
Now this on you which module do u select i will say before taking any module just study the market...

from ABAP and BW your have to think...
your J2EE Knowledge is Best Used in ABAP Because in ABAP this is lots of work for J2EE person because the SAP ECC6 is based on Java ... their is BIG Demand of Java Person in ABAP..
BW is also GOOD because now day companys are looking for BW but their are very few peoples in BW ...

Demand on course changes with the time and market strategy. So i cant say particular module as the demand module. ABAP & BW are the technical modules. My basic responsibilities are to handle projects & operations of the company. I also have a good overseas experience in countries like US, Canada. There i use to handle projects & clients. Also I do have an experience of marketing in these countries. I have done rigorous marketing in US in the period of recession.
I have total 8.5 yrs of experience which includes 21 months of overseas experience. I m very desperately looking for a switch over in software sector. Can somebody guide me the appropriate way to get into this sector based on my experience?

I have recently switched to the Chemical industry and am currently working with the SAP team concerned with the implementation of the Sales & Distribution module. I am not at all interested in Sales and really look forward to do something in BI. I studied BI and ERP systems during my MBIT course and i really want to get into greater depths. I have the basic info. regarding data warehousing and would like to do it practically.

As per your experience you would not be eligible for BI Module.
In BI comps pick up only those candidates who have prior exp in BI (with other technologies) and want to convert themselves into SAP.
Otherwise candidates who have prior exp into ABAP can convert to BI after taking training on that.
This information is according to my knowledge into this industry only, rest you can confirm from somewhere else also if there is some other way also to enter into SAP BI.

Could not access this forum from last 1 week so could not reply. As I read all the queries so giving general suggestion which would help.
For all B.Tech freshers only option is to go as a technical consultant which include SAP Basis & ABAP. Because for all functional modules you require prior experience.
As authorised SAP basis courses are not easily avaialable and it includes all system administration knowledge so industry generaly pick up the resources who have worked as System Admin or Network engineer with SAP knowledge.
So only option is SAP ABAP.
All MCA, B.Tech guys who are fresher can opt ABAP only.

If you want to go for e-learning then you can go for anyone but if you are looking for ILT then you need to check which one have experienced trainers.

As you are MBA Finance with no job experience then I would say that chances of a SAP FICO jobs are there but not so high because in Finance; domain experience carries lot of weightage.
But if you are only looking for SAP then I would suggest that if you are going for SAP course then go for authorized one only because if some chances are there then these are only with Authorised one.
If you can wait for some time then best option is to spend 1-2 yrs in finance field and then go for SAP.

1. B.Com Graduation with 3 yrs of BPO exp is not sufficient for SAP Finance Module. You need Post graduation with some domain exp.
2. Hi Chnader Shekhar, You can go for SAP ABAP Module and will suggest for authorised course if realy want to move into SAP. In Hyderabad/ Bangalore I think Siemens & Genovate are there. Findout some more if there are some.
3. Hi Senty, I could not get your intensions as if you are planning for MBA then why are you asking for Module. Kindly clear your query....
4.If you are B.Tech and 3 yrs programming exp then I think you not need to ask for module. Go for ABAP off-course.
5.Hi Friend (MCA 2008 passout), if you dont want to do programming then can you tell me about your exp so that I could suggest you about the module. BI module is not for hardcore freshers. It required some experience in ABAP OR if you have already worked on BI tools in any other technologies.
6.With only BA, you are not eligible for SAP...
**Guys from eligibility I mean that first you will not get the admission in any authorised center OR if you do the course anyhow from any authorised or un authorised center then getting job would be next to impossible as a fresher.** Yes if anybody going through fake exp then yes he can try but it is risky that so why I am not suggesting anybody overhere for that one.

But I would suggest you that first verify everything about that institute because 99% institutes are making wrong promises in terms of job. So first verify everything then go for it.

I will suggest you to go to any authorised center near to your place and take the suggestion because it need to check your qulaification, age and kind of exp you have.
Earlier it was somehow easy to get the entry in SAP because manpower with required knowldge was very less. But as you seen in this forum and other forums; everyone is trying to move into SAP. So compition is as hard as to start career in any new line. Companies are getting lot of B.Tech & MBA graduates with SAP certification and with required skill set that they are avoiding any person who has done course fron unauthorised institute and person who have done certification but not have relevant domain exp or qualification.
So before taking any step I would suggest that do the analysis that what you are getting right now in terms of money and carrer and waht you can get after investing time and money.
I want to warn my friends who think that after doing course from anywhere or just getting the knowledge about SAP, entry become easy; it is not the scenario right now. 99% of institutes ae making fake promises. Some companies are giving fake exp but with that you can ruin your current career and your future career also because with fake exp most of employees get fired with in 6 months.
So i would suggest that go to any authorised center first to get the proper information about your candidature and chances to get the job. After that you can take the decision either to got for unauthorised or authorised. OR either to do anything to make career in SAP or forget about that so that you could concentrate with your current profile....
I don't know about other institutes but I seen that JKT SAP Academy (Gurgaon & Kolkata) has dropped lot of students after seeing their profiles and given the right advice to them...This is the reason that the placement of JKT is 100%.
**First get the right advice and then take the decision rather investing time & money with no result....**

1.As per your graduation in biotech I think SAS can be a good option for you because lot of SAS projects are in Biotech/Clinical/Healthcare domain.
2. Yes it is true that after the course also, getting job is not easy. I would suggest that if you would go for any course then go for certified course only. If you would be SAS certified, competition would be little bit low and preference rate would be high.
3.For SAS, I am not aware about any institute. But you can search it because i there would not enough institutes who are SAS Esucational Partner.

At this stage doing SAP Basis course would not be beneficial for you because as you written that you diploma folder which means not graduated yet.
SAP Basis is the only option for you but directly with the course (from any unauthorised center) will not help you to get the job and in authorised course is only provided by SAP Bangalore for which you might not be eligible because of non-graduation.
I will suggest you two upgaradations; first- Go for graduation also, Second- Not Stick with MS Windows only and learn other OS like linux/unix/AIX etc which will help you to find a job in good org. from where you can move into SAP Basis also.

If you have any Technical Qualification like B.Tech/MCA before MBA HR then you can go for SAP ABAP also (as you told that you dont have much domain exp).

May I know on what basis you are recommending SAP CRM to Mr. Aris. Kindly go through in detail what Customer relationship Management stands for. Customer support job in any BPO is no where a part of CRM.
SAP CRM is an advance version of SAP SD. Not even SAP recommend CRM without SAP experience.
I know that lot of institutes are providing training on CRM but I have not seen a single case of placement.
May I know how a student would get the training on E2E implementation. May I know the duration of the course OR the project you have.. (E2E implementation takes atleast 8-12 months).
If you can give me 1-2 examples of your students who have been placed then yes I myself will give you 5 more students. I have lot of students who cant afford certified course but want to do SAP.
Placement through fake exp is somehow successful but not for everyone and not successful in long run. Person gets blacklist for the whole life if gets cought.

Sorry to say but it would be extremely difficult to get job in ABAP for you.
I also will suggest you for PP. It is not necessary that you should be involved into end to end processing. If you just have the knowledge of end to end process that is also sufficient for SAP. So my vote is for PP.
Here are good requirements of PP module. Only problem is that here are less requirements for SAP freshers and this condition is for every module.

It would not be of much use to learn SAP right now.
Anyways if you are keen to learn then you can decide the module according to your MBA stream (FI,SD,CRM,HR) might it could help you in future.
So if you are doing MBA in Finance then go for FI module, if Marketing then got for SD & CRM (it is better to learn CRM after SD only) and if HR then go for HR module.

I have over 3.6 Years of IT experience in Adobe Flex Development, and it is predicted that Flex will become obsolete in near future, I am planning for a technology switch now. I feel SAP technology will be good going for atleat next 5 years without any doubt. So, I am considering SAP as an option to switch. I do not plan on any technology switch for atleast next 10 years and i want to become and expert with experience in the field i choose now.
I am not much interested in programming now, I feel SAP Basis & SAP Security will be suitable for me, please suggest if am right in doing so and what is feel is correct or not.
I also want to know other alternatives in SAP considering my experience so far as i can see ABAP and XI, Netweaver but I sure of what actually they are, kindly explain in detail.
I would also like to know the compensation details for people who switch technologies like me, for example if I do Basis and Security will my 3.6Years of experience counted or will I be counted as a fresher for compensation.
Kindly do advice and any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

I am Krishna, I am a MCA student 2008 Passed out and currently working as a Adobe Flex Developer since 3.5+ Years. I am a little doubtful about the future of the Flex technology in near future and believe it will be obsolete. So I am planning a technology change because it is not very late in my career right now. I am into programming field by chance and not by choice(i do not like programming).
I do not want to change my technology in next 10 years if i change my technology now and i want to become an expert in what ever technology i choose now, so i prefer SAP as platform because i feel it will be here for next 5+ years for sure. please correct me if I am wrong.
I feel SAP Basis + SAP Security as my options again correct me if am wrong because in the above table you have mentions XI, and Net Weaver as options also, although i dont know anything about XI and Netweaver please shed some light on it too.
If I learn SAP Basis+SAP Security now and start my carrer on it, already having 3.5+ years of IT experience in other field will I be considered a fresher in terms of Compensation(Salary benefits), please clarify, also please tell me if there are other technologies that i can look into like oracle apps or some thing in SAP that i donno.
Please also tell me how bright is a career in SAP and SAP BASIS+SAP SECURITY in particular.
